The Jeronimos Monastery is a magnificent architectural complex located in Belém. It was built in the 16th century and is one of the main examples of Manueline architecture, considered one of the most beautiful and emblematic in Portugal. The building is characterised by it’s ornate façade, with details such as sculptures, nautical symbols and decorative elements that represent the grandeur and wealth of the Portuguese Discoveries.
Built at the beginning of the 20th century, Quinta da Regaleira is an estate in Sintra known for it’s palace and lush gardens. Today, Quinta da Regaleira belongs to the municipality of Sintra and is open to public, having been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995.
Built in the 16th century, the Belém Tower was initially designed as a fortress to protect the city and control access to the harbour, and also played an important role during the era of the Portuguese Discoveries.
